While the primary mission of the sensory evaluation facility in the Department of Food Science is to support the research of members of the Department, their students and their collaborators, the facility also provides scientific and technical support to food-related and consumer products industries. To this end, the sensory evaluation facilities are available, on a fee for service basis, to industrial clients.
We offer a full range of sensory services to meet your sensory evaluation needs. The following general types of sensory evaluation tests can be conducted. Others can be conducted to meet more specific needs of the client.
o Simple difference tests, including discrimination procedures
o Consumer acceptability testing, including diagnostics (i.e., reasons for liking, disliking, etc.)
o Terminology development for sensory attributes
o Quantitative descriptive comparisons by trained panelists
o Focus group interviews
o Statistical analyses of test results and presentation graphics
If you would like to participate in our taste panels, please provide name, email address, phone number, age, ethnicity and any allergies in an email to Kathy Chapman at firstname.lastname@example.org
