NYSAFP Memberships are based on the Association's Fiscal Year, starting on September 1 and ending August 31 of the following year.
- Individual (Active)
Any person engaged or interested in the various aspects of the milk and food industries, including employees of regulatory agencies, educational or research institutions, laboratories, or related industries is eligible for individual membership in NYSAFP. Active members have voting status at meetings of the Association.
- Student
Any person enrolled in a two-year, four year or graduate program related to the dairy and food industry shall be eligible for membership. All undergraduate students enrolled in fields related to dairy, food or agriculture, regardless of membership, are eligible to apply for the NYSAFP Scholarship.
- Sustaining
Sustaining membership is open to commercial companies, corporations, and other organizations or associations interested in the promotion of sanitation that supports the objectives of the Association.
Note: A sustaining membership applies to a company or association, but does not award automatic individual membership to its employees. Individual employees must pay separate membership dues. Individuals may join as Sustaining Members.

NYSAFP was formerly the NY State Association of Milk and Food Sanitarians (NYSAMFS). The name was changed in 2001 to reflect the current focus of the organization, although the overall mission remains the same. NYSAFP thanks its loyal members and welcomes all new members.
