Applications are now being accepted for the 2010 Food Science Summer Scholar Program - an exciting summer research experience opportunity for undergraduates! Positions are available at Cornell University and the University of Massachusetts.
Ten years ago, the Department of Food Science at Cornell University initiated a program, offering undergraduate research experience in food science, and the Food Science Summer Scholar program was born. The University of Massachusetts joined the program in 2007providing more opportunities for students to conduct research in food science. To date, 147 students have participated in this program (142 at Cornell and 5 at UMass). You can read more about past participants by clicking here.
Besides research experience, participants learn about various career opportunities within food science, take field trips to area industries (large and small), as well as meet on a semi-weekly basis to discuss various topics including Ethics in Food Science, Applying for Graduate School, Product Development, Learning from Research, and more. On the last day of the program, scholars are given the opportunity to present their research to an audience of peers.
